Dursley News - March 2010

Well it's happened! The new Sainsbury's supermarket is now open in Dursley after a year of construction work on this very central site. The first day, March 17th, as well as the following week, were very busy and no doubt it will be a while before a regular pattern forms but at long last the traffic restrictions in Castle Street have been removed and hopefully normaility will return.

Unfortunately, at the same time as one shop opened, another closed. After 45 years of trading, R.P. Jones, The Electrical Shop, in Long Street closed for the last time on March 31st.

At Rednock, work on the site landscaping continues, hopefully to be complete prior to the official opening at the end of April.

Just one week after opening and the car park near the swimming pool, which also serves Sainsbury's, is looking very full. The larger car park, on the old Rack Field was just as busy.
